Seminars for Teachers

EATA has been organising summer and winter schools for teachers since 2008. The aim of these seminars is to bring together teachers of history, civics and national defence from Russian-language high schools to discuss different interpretations of history and homogenize teaching of the aforementioned subjects all over Estonia.

To promote cross-national integration in Estonia and foster a common understanding of the country’s history, these seminars feature several well-known speakers, among whom are historians, politicians, diplomats and experts of security and defence policy, who give a new perspective on teaching Estonian history to teachers of pupils that come from a Russian background.

On previous occasions, Mart Laar, David Vseviov and Marina Kaljurand, among others, have been kind enough to speak at the summer and winter schools.

EATA summer and winter schools are made possible by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Estonia and The National Foundation of Civil Society.
